On this small island, there are ideal swimming spots for those who wish to dive into turquoise waters. Snorkeling enthusiasts will enjoy quality time on Meis Island.
There is no flat, sandy beach on the island. However, it is possible to enter the sea via ladders located in front of some cafés and hotels along the harbor. The water at both ends of the harbor is very clean and clear, while the middle section appears more polluted and murky.
At the left end of the harbor, right in front of the old mosque, there is a café with sunbeds and umbrellas that functions as a beach area. You can enter the sea using the steps, as if stepping into a swimming pool. On the right end of the harbor, near the Megisti Hotel, there is another spot where you can swim. Sunbeds there are available for an additional fee.
Saint George Beach, located on a small islet just opposite Meis, is considered the cleanest place for swimming. You need to take a sea taxi (5 euros) to reach it. Sunbeds and umbrellas cost 4 euros, and the food and beverage menu is quite extensive. You can enter the sea again using ladders. One of the owners is a Turkish bride from Kaş, who can assist you with many things about the island. Additionally, when you take a sea taxi to the Blue Cave, you can choose to get off at Saint George Beach on the way back, so you won’t need to pay another 5 euros to visit the beach separately.
The small bay next to the harbor is called Mandraki. Although it may not look very attractive, some visitors swim from the small rocky beach located there.
