Blue Cave

The Blue Cave is located 18 kilometers from Kaş and 6 kilometers from Kalkan. It was discovered in 1972 by geologist Dr. Temuçin Aygen. The cave is quite large and consists of different chambers. It is called the Blue Cave because the light entering inside appears blue. Soft coral formations inside the cave are particularly striking.

Anyone who enjoys cave diving and exploration should definitely visit the Blue Cave.

This rare cave, considered by the islanders as a gift to the island, is one of the few examples of its kind in the world. The bright blue color, formed by the combination of multiple natural conditions, leaves visitors in awe of nature once again.

The blue glow is created when sunlight reflects off the water at the right angle through the cave’s narrow entrance, producing a mesmerizing, almost phosphorescent effect.

Boats usually stay inside the cave for about 15 minutes. During this time, visitors can jump into the deep blue waters for a swim. According to local captains, if you visit in April or May, you may even have the chance to see baby monk seals inside the cave.
